Friday
Today is a Popcorn/Spirit Day. Each student will receive a bag of popcorn, compliments of the PTC. Also please wear your DAWG gear or other maroon and white clothes to show your support of South.
Upcoming Events
Thursday, May 23rd is Field Day. The PTC will be once again providing snow cones to all participants. If you are able to assist, either in the morning or the afternoon, please contact Andrea Gray at travandi@hotmail.com.

This Thursday is the third annual Mother and Son Bowling event. Due to circumstances beyond out control, invitations did not go home last Friday, but should come home on Monday. Space is limited at this event. Follow the link for the RSVP form.

RSVP’s for the third annual Mother and Son Bowling event are due today. Space IS limited and once capacity has been reached, RSVPs shall be returned.
The Parent Be Nice Program will be tonight from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.
Thursday
Tonight is the third annual Mother and Son Bowling event at Hudsonville Bowling Alley from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Friday

South PTC Pizza Hut Night has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 23, 2013 due to a scheduling conflict at the restaurant There is not a Pizza Hut Night for South on April 16, 2013 as previously advertised. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

General Notes
Please be aware that the PTC has added another Buffalo Wild Wing Event to our Calendar. All day on Wednesday, May 8th, South Elementary PTC will earn 20% of all food and drink sales. A Flyer will be sent home closer to the event or can be found at the link below. Please feel free to print and give copies to your non-South friends and neighbors. Note that qualifying sales can be dine-in or carry-out. Also, Wednesday nights are “Kids Nights” at Buffalo Wild Wings with reduced kids’ meals, crafts, and an ice cream sundae bar.

Please join us tonight for the 6th PTC Meeting of the 2012/2013 school year. The meeting will start at 7:00 p.m. and everyone is invited and encouraged to attend. Grandville Public School Superintendent Ron Caniff will be joining us to provide a synopsis of the Bond Proposal for the May 2013 election. This is a meeting you should not miss.

The Spring Book Fair ends this week, with the final Family Night tonight. Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who help make this fun event run so smoothly.
Parent Teacher Conferences take place tonight. You should have already been notified by your student’s teacher of your conference date and time. Please note that day care will not be provided. Thank you to the volunteers who are helping with Conference Meals.

General Notes
FAMILY FARE CASH FOR CLASS PROGRAM is happening this week. South is participating in the D&W Fresh Market and Family Fare Cash for Class Program to earn money for our school. Purchases you make between January 13th and January 19th with your ‘yes’ card will automatically be credited to our school account. In order for your purchases to count, you must first link your ‘yes’ card to our school’s Cash for Class Code (South Elementary’s Cash for Class Code is 75045). As a ‘yes’ cardholder, please go to http://www.myrewards.com to link your card. Please don’t forget to link your ‘yes’ card to our school, shop during the Program Weeks, and help our school raise additional dollars to support our students.

A simple way to earn money for South is through Meijer Community Rewards. Enrolled members shop Meijer, simply paying with cash, a PIN-based debit card, or a linked Meijer Credit Card. Purchases made with a linked Meijer Credit Card earn 1%. Purchases made with cash or PIN-based debit card and a swiped Meijer 1 Card earn 0.5%.

MEAP testing begins this week. Please be sure your students get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast.

Please join us for the 2nd PTC Meeting of 2012/2013 school year at 7:00 p.m. All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend. Day care will NOT be available. Meetings generally last between 1 l and 2 hours, but please join us for any portion of the meeting you are able to attend. We will be voting to approve the 2012/2013 budget.
