South Elementary PTC News 9.25-16

Its an exciting week at South!  Friday is our WALK-A-THON!  Its the biggest PTC Fundraiser of the year!  All students will participate Friday during the day.  Pledges are due Thursday!  We hope each student can raise $50- which would get us to our $10,000 goal!  We love to help the teachers and offer grants to the teachers to purchase items they need for their classrooms.  We have purchased fans for all the rooms and the great signs in the hallways.  We also help cover costs for some field trips and fun events for the students.   As of right now we are far from our goal.  The class with highest amount of pledges wins a bowling party- currently Mr Karnehms class is in 1st place, Vezino in close second, Barton & Heyboyer tied for 3rd.  Here is the link again for the  Walk-A-Thon Information Sheet and Walk-A-Thon Pledge Form

The Family BBQ is planned for Friday from 4:30pm-7pm.  Everyone will get a free hot dog, chips and a drink.  We REALLY need volunteers to help cover different areas that evening- please click HERE if you can help!!  We have inflatables- bounce house, obstacle course, mechanical bull and giant slide!  We will be selling popcorn, cotton candy, and other food items for $1 each! bbq-flyer The weather looks great 7 we hope you will all join us for a great night!

Thursday is our Jets Pizza Fundraiser- jets-flyer Turn in your flyer at the Jets Pizza at 44th & Ivanrest and they will donate 20% of every order to the South PTC!

Friday is also the Kindergarten classes Teddy Bear picnic- don’t forget to send your kindergartener with their teddy bear!

Class Parents will start planning Halloween parties soon- don’t forget that the PTC reimburses $25 per class- just save your receipts and fill out this form! ptc-expense-reimbursement-request-for-parent-use  Parties will be held on Friday October 28th- which is also a half day.  2016-2017 Important Dates

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend

The turnout for the Tom & Chee fundraiser was amazing!  If you didn’t see the post on our facebook group, it said:  Just wanted to share this email from Rachel Calendo, manager/owner of Tom and Chee:
“Holy moly! South knows how to turn out a crowd! I was blown away by the attendance last night. In the 12+ we have done like this, none had the turn out like last night! Kudos to your community!!! I hope everyone wasn’t too upset about the long line. I tired to moved them through as quick as possible but Kids night always makes the ordering process a little longer. I hope everyone had fun and enjoyed their dinners! ”
Way to go South!!! Next dining fundraiser is Jets Pizza night on Sept. 29th.

And Principal Roberts wanted to pass along his thanks to everyone who made it by the Open house on Thursday evening.  We hope you got a chance to look at all the improvements that were made around the school!.

And the Family BBQ planning is coming along nicely for Friday September 30th from 4:30pm-7pm.  We still need lots of volunteers to help make this event run smoothly.  We appreciate any family members, grandparents or high school and older aged kids who would like to volunteer for a few hours that evening!  Sign up HERE!

Other volunteer opportunities are:

October we have the conference meals. (South families always provide a meal for the teacher’s in the staff lounge on the night of conferences)
Oct 25- Taco Bar
Oct 27- Soup and Salad Bar…/10c0a4aa5a82daaff2-conference1

And then in November, we have Culver’s night. In order to receive a portion of the profits, Culver’s requires that we have volunteers on hand to greet and bus food.

WALK-A-THON!  Our goal is to raise $10,000 and that would require each child to raise $50. We hope each family will participate in the fundraising to the best of their abilities!  PRIZES PRIZES PRIZES!  The top 5 pledge raisers will each receive a $75 gift card.  Each student who raises at least $50 will be entered into a classroom raffle- one winner from each classroom will be chosen and get to pick a random envelope with cash inside ranging from $10-$50!  The classroom that raises the most pledges will win a bowling party!  Right now Mr Karnehm is still in the lead with Mr Bartons class in a close second!  You have until the 29th to send in cash or checks made out to South PTC!

We have lots of fun things planned this year and we appreciate your support!  Have a great week!
