Weekly Update for August 25-29

Welcome Back!

It’s hard to believe but it’s that time of the year again – the beginning of a new school year.  Starting tonight, and continuing through the school year, we will be providing our South families with a weekly post with a schedule of events for the upcoming week. This weekly post will include PTC and school wide and/or class specific events such as fieldtrips and assemblies. If you subscribe to the PTC blog, you will receive an e-mail notification when a post is made. The blog entry will be posted on the Grandville South Elementary Parents page and shared with the Grandville South Elementary Facebook page. If you have not already done so, please be sure to like both on Facebook and subscribe to our blog.

General Notes

Classroom supply lists were mailed home earlier this summer, along with classroom assignments.  These supply lists will be posted on the Grandville South Elementary Facebook page.

Tonight is the Back to School Open House from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.   This is an important evening for children, parents, and teachers. Tonight you and your children will have the opportunity to meet South’s new principal, Ryan Roberts, meet your child’s’ teacher, and familiarize yourself with the your child’s new classroom.  Your children may also bring in their school supplies.

Friday Folders will be distributed this evening.  Please be sure to look for information regarding the Walk-a-Thon and Free Family BBQ (Scheduled for September 26th). Lastly, please take a few minutes to speak with the PTC Board Members to learn about the fun ways you can become involved.

For many of you, this will be your first opportunity to see the amazing remodel to our front office.  Also, be sure to check out the playground. . . a major clean-up of the grounds was undertaken, tether balls purchased, and two Gaga pits were installed over the summer.  A special thanks to Eagle Scout Andrew Furman and his Boy Scout Troop #292 for the Gaga pits.

Our children receive the greatest education when South’s dedicated parents and teachers work as a team.

The enthusiasm, support, and involvement of our parents and teachers inspire our children to do their best.

Together our kids can achieve wonderful things.

Here is to another great year!!
