Weekly Update for October 18-24

General Notes

Congratulations South.  We made it to Round 2 of the Orange Leaf Froyo Spirit Challenge.  Round 2 starts today, Sunday, October 18 and runs until Saturday, October 24. The rules remain the same.  In Round 2, we face Grandville Central and Jenison Pinewood.  Remember, we receive 20% of our sales each week.  If we win Round 3, we will receive an additional $500 bonus.  Let’s Go SOUTH!!!!

Family Fare Cash for Class is happening this week from October 18th to October 24th. Purchases made between October 18-34 with your “yes” card will automatically be credited to our school account.  The program is tied directly to your “yes” Rewards card.   You can choose up to two (2) schools to link your yes card.   Go to Cash for Class website to link your card to the schools of your choice. You only have to link your “yes” card once and you will not have to remember to tell the cashier during the event weeks – once you link your card – it will automatically calculate the donation for the school chosen.    Already a “yes” member but don’t have an on-line account set up? Just visit the yes website at Cash for Class , click on ‘First-Time to Site?’ and follow the steps to complete your on-line account registration. During the registration process, you will be able to link your school code (s).

New No-Cost, Hassle-Free Fundraiser

South PTC recently learned of an easy fundraising tool.  Shoparoo is a free iPhone and Android app that turns pictures of your shopping receipts into donations. Snap pictures of your receipts from any store, big or small, that sells grocery items to earn Roo Points. It doesn’t matter where you shop or what items you buy – Shoparoo will assign points for every receipt! Submit up to 20 grocery receipts within a rolling 7 day period. At end of the Shaparoo fundraising year, the Roo points will be converted to dollars.  1000 Points = $2, 5000 points = $10, 10,000 points = $20, and so on.

Snap pictures of your receipts from any restaurant or other retailer (that doesn’t sell grocery items) to earn entries into Shoparoo’s $1,000 monthly sweepstakes and $15,000 yearly sweepstakes! Each receipt counts as an entry into both monthly and yearly sweepstakes. Submit up to 50 non-grocery receipts within a rolling 7 day period.

The first 20 people to join using referral code GON56255 will earn a bonus 100 Roo points after submitting their first receipt.  Once signed up, share the app with friends and family and if they sign using your referral code, you will earn an extra 150 Roo points and they earn 100 Roo points after scanning their first reciept. Anyone can join and choose to donate to South.

You can also choose to represent a particular grade at South.  Currently, the 2nd Grade has 3,405 Roo points and 1st Grade has 40Roo points.  Can the 5th Grade do better?  How about Kindergarten?  In less than a week, and with only 10 receipt submitting supporters, South has earned 10,970 Roo points. We have now earned $20 and are 14,030 points away from $50. .

This is an annual fundraiser and runs from August 1, 2015 to July 31, 2016.  We will receive our check for this year in October 2016.
