Orange Leaf Froyo Spirit Challenge Round 2

Congratulations South.  We made it to Round 2 of the Orange Leaf Froyo Spirit Challenge.  Round 2 started Sunday, October 18 and runs until Saturday, October 24. The rules remain the same.  In Round 2, we face Grandville Central and Jenison Pinewood.  Remember, we receive 20% of our sales each week.  If we win Round 3, we will receive an additional $500 bonus.  Let’s Go SOUTH!!!!  As of the close of business on day on Monday, South was in first place with $36.18 raised, Pinewood was in second with $18.07 raised, and Central was in third with $16.02 raised.  We hope to have another update real soon.

New No-Cost, Hassle-Free Fundraiser

South PTC recently learned of an easy fundraising tool.  Shoparoo is a free iPhone and Android app that turns pictures of your shopping receipts into donations. Snap pictures of your receipts from any store, big or small, that sells grocery items to earn Roo Points. It doesn’t matter where you shop or what items you buy – Shoparoo will assign points for every receipt! Submit up to 20 grocery receipts within a rolling 7 day period. At end of the Shaparoo fundraising year, the Roo points will be converted to dollars.  1000 Points = $2, 5000 points = $10, 10,000 points = $20, and so on.

Snap pictures of your receipts from any restaurant or other retailer (that doesn’t sell grocery items) to earn entries into Shoparoo’s $1,000 monthly sweepstakes and $15,000 yearly sweepstakes! Each receipt counts as an entry into both monthly and yearly sweepstakes. Submit up to 50 non-grocery receipts within a rolling 7 day period.

The first 20 people to join using referral code GON56255 will earn a bonus 100 Roo points after submitting their first receipt.  Once signed up, share the app with friends and family and if they sign using your referral code, you will earn an extra 150 Roo points and they earn 100 Roo points after scanning their first reciept. Anyone can join and choose to donate to South.

You can also choose to represent a particular grade at South.  Currently, the 2nd Grade has 3,955 Roo points, 3rd Grade has 800 Roo Points, and 1st Grade has 270 Roo points.  Can the 5th Grade do better?  How about Kindergarten?  In less than a week, and with only 13receipt submitting supporters, South has earned 14,2400 Roo points. We have now earned $20 and are 10,760 points away from $50.

This is an annual fundraiser and runs from August 1, 2015 to July 31, 2016.  We will receive our check for this year in October 2016.

Volunteers Needed

The PTC is currently looking for an individual to act as the Labels for Education (most commonly found on Campbell’s Soup) and Spartan Label Coordinator.  These programs are similar to BoxTops. Last year the PTC was able to exchange Labels for Education for gift cards which were used to purchase more than 10 new banquet tables for the school.  Please contact Co-Volunteer Coordinators  Kennedy Bisbee at kennedybizz@yahoo.com or Samantha Siegert  at sam.andmike@yahoo.com.

Copy Crew is a new service which will be available to South teachers and staff this school year.  Volunteers are needed each week to make copies, laminate, or do other office activities for teachers and staff.  If you are able to help, please sign up at Copy Crew.  The time commitment each week will vary from 15 minutes to 2 hours depending on the needs of teachers and staff.

The Fall Book Fair is less than a week awayAs always, Book Fair requires many hands. We invite parents to help with set up, classroom shopping, Family Night, and tear down. It’s a great opportunity to celebrate reading at South and meet new families in our school community. Thank you in advance for all of your help! Please use the link below to sign up to volunteer.  Fall Book Fair Sign-Up
