South PTC News 9.10.17

Good evening South Families!

WOW!  We are blown away by the support we received for our Walk-A-Thon!  Our South community never ceases to amaze us- $11k raised this year!  We hope everyone enjoyed their night at the Family BBQ!  The inflatables were a blast.  We have to thank Family Fare again for donating the hot dogs, buns and water.  And also a Thank you to EverKept for donating the trash bins for the event!  And a HUGE Thank you to all the volunteers who cooked, wrapped hot dogs, handed out water & chips, helped sell concessions, raffle tickets, monitored the inflatables, set up and tore down.  Thank you!!

New Clothing available for purchase!  As you may have seen at the BBQ, we had some racks out with new clothing options.  You can order the items here: https://chaserapparel.itemorder.com/
Put in code: GBULLDOGS17
The site will close at 11:59pm on September 24th.  At that time, all orders will be sent to print and ready for pickup in about 2 weeks.  They will come to the school sorted by student or parent name and sent home with your children or available for pickup.  I’ll share more info as we get closer and have a firm pickup date!

This week is the first full 5 day week of school!  We have an evening PTC Meeting this week Thursday at 6:30- everyone is invited and welcome to come join and learn about what else we have planned for the year, or if you wanna help or have an idea, please come by!

Friday September 15th is the High School Pink out game versus Hudsonville high School.  The Grandville Cheer Boosters are offering $5 person or $20 family price for a meal and game ticket, and tickets are available at the South office prior to Friday, or at the tailgate event on Friday from 5pm-6:45pm prior to the start of the football game.  Make sure to wear PINK!

Its time for another Box Tops contest as the fall submission deadline is approaching.  A form came home on Friday for you to attach your Box Tops to.  If you run out of room on that form (yay!) Send them in a ziploc bag.  Mke sure the bag and the form have your child & teachers name on it because the class with the most will win a pizza & ice cream party, so make sure to ask co-workers, friends and family to save theirs!

We also are still collecting Family Fare and D&W (Spartan Stores) receipts!  Once we collect $150k of “Direct Your Dollars”, the school will earn $1,000!  Currently we have $12k, so we have a ways to go.  Ask friends, family, or co-workers to save their full receipts for us.
And if you’re saving receipts, take a minute to download the Shoparoo app and snap pictures of your receipts to earn points.  Feel free to invite friends or family to also participate and snap pictures of their receipts.  Anyone can help support us!  You can download the App from your phone Appstore for free!

Dont forget hockey season is around the corner and if your family are Griffins fans, we have set up a group ticket purchase option to save you some $!

Also, our Fall Sale event!  Saturday October 21!  I’ll send home the sign up forms and the flyer in this week’s Friday folder.  We hope you will buy a space and come sell gently used kids clothing, or if you sell other items, or make things, come buy a space and sell!  We should have a lot of traffic because we picked the same day as the high school event and will promote it heavily thru the community!  South Elementary Vendor Show

Our Library helpers start this week.  If you have an hour or two, she would love the help and parent involvement in our school library!  Sign Up HERE!

We have lots of dining fundraiser planned this year!  Participate in whatever ones you can, or whatever ones you like.  Our dining coordinator Beth, has picked some new places this year, and also planned some double nights with two places participating.  So maybe the parents like one place, and the kids like the other, you could get takeout and keep everyone happy!  Jets pizza is coming up Tuesday Sept. 19th, and Buffalo Wild Wings on Wednesday Sept. 27th.

Orange Leaf is also planning their bracket challenge between schools.  First round starts October 1st.  South will face Cummings.  For those new to this, Orange Leaf in Grandville does a bracket spirit challenge.  For one week, schools go head to head to see who spends the most.  When you go to Orange Leaf, you drop your receipt in a schools bucket for your purchase to count towards our total.  The schools with the highest totals will move to the next round.  We earn 20% of our total sales (Even if we dont move to the next round).  The overall winning school gets a $500 bonus!  You can see the full bracket below!

As always, Thanks for your support and have a great week!
