South PTC Update 3.4.18
Good evening South families-
Just wanted to remind you all of a few things-
South Bookfair at Barnes & Noble
Our Spring Book Fair at Barnes & Noble is in 2 weeks, Saturday March 17. With Spring Break right around the corner, this would be the perfect time to get some new beach or “stay-cation” reads! South will receive a percentage of all purchases made with our book fair code. This money will then be used to purchase new books for the library and classroom libraries. It is going to be a fun day with many exciting events including a special story time by Mayor Maas and a visit from the Grandville Bulldog! See the attached flier for a complete list of events. We are still looking for volunteers to help make this event run smoothly. Volunteers are needed to watch over the craft and game areas, and get the word out about our fundraiser. This could also be an opportunity for high school students who are looking for a few more service hours. Please click here to see the sign up genius for times and areas needed.
As an added bonus…ALL volunteers will receive a free beverage from the Starbucks cafe. Books and coffee= a PERFECT Saturday!

3rd Graders Kids Food Basket Donation Drive
3rd grade is collecting donations of food items to make sack suppers for Kids Food Basket. Their goal is 1000 sack suppers! Kids Food Basket hands out 8000 each DAY in West Michigan. Items needed are: 100% Fruit Juice Boxes (less than 7 oz), Small raisin boxes or dried fruit, Individual fruit cup or pouch, Individual applesauce cup or pouch, granola bar and cracker packs.
Food can be dropped off on the conference nights- March 13 & 15.
All staff and students are encouraged to wear orange on Friday March 23rd for Hunger Awareness. You can learn more about Kids Food Basket HERE!
March 13 & 15- The assigned times should be coming home later this week!
Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to bring in food and feed our teachers!
March 16th Half Day event
Our next half-day for students is March 16. We will once again offer an afternoon event for students to support families without child care options. The next event will be slightly different and will be off-site from our elementary schools, hosted at the Visser Family YMCA.
If you expect the need for your child/children to participate in that afternoon event on March 16, please complete this information form: www.bit.ly/March16INFO. Participation for this afternoon event will be limited and based on a first come registration basis.
After completing the form, more specific information regarding the event and registration requirements will be sent to you directly.

A Wrinkle in Time Move screening- March 10th
I have a private theatre held on Saturday March 10th at 3pm but we need to sell close to 100 tickets to remain in a private theatre. I posted in both the event page and the facebook that I’ll extend the opportunity to send in your money to Tuesday so we can get as many people as possible included. If you don’t have the form anymore, thats ok! Just send in an envelope marked for PTC Movie, with students name and number of tickets ($8 each), and if you want a regular size pop & popcorn is only $7. I will purchase tickets Tuesday night and have them at the school on Wednesday to be sent home with the kids.
